Chapter Twelve â
Prisoner Out of Time
Daniel returned to Elizabethâs side as they prepared to go back above together. Daniel felt the light engulf him as he rose upwards towards the sky. Elizabeth turned to follow as the Dark Hat Man stepped out of the shadows. He smiled as he looked at her. His intentions were evil and he was determined to win at any cost. Looking skyward, he saw the trail of Danielâs orb, which was beginning to fade. With a wave of his hand, the light changed and dimmed. Daniel was thrown, not from place to place, but through time. The Black Hat Man turned to walk away as Elizabeth looked up to see what had happened.
âWhat did you do?â Raven called out as she came from out of the shadows.
âI merely sent the boy on a bit of a trip.â The demon answered.
âWe need him, just as much as they do.â She insisted.
âHe is a pawn in a much bigger game. If we cannot possess him, at least we know they cannot either.â
âThey will rescue him. They can track his life force.â
âNot where I sent him. And if they do figure it out, it will be too late to save him.â

Daniel tumbled within the light as it faded. He had no idea what was happening to him or why. He tumbled back through time as he circled the globe. As the light faded completely, he fell from the sky. Hitting hard on the ground, he blacked out before he could get his footing.
Daniel awoke to an older woman wiping blood from his forehead. He had cut himself when he fell through an old fence. He looked up at the woman and tried to speak, but she did not answer. As he stood up, he saw that his clothes had been removed and replaced with odd looking striped pants and a shirt. As he looked around at the others, he became painfully aware of where he was.
âDoes anyone here speak English?â He asked but no one answered. âPlease someone here has to.â
âYes, I do.â A young man came from the corner of the room. He looked frail and thin as if he had not eaten for days. He extended his hand to Daniel, who was taken aback by the sight of the man. He composed himself quickly and tried not to let his shock show through his emotions.
âWhere are we?â Daniel asked.
âYou hit your head, you donât know, do you? You are in a concentration camp my boy. Last stop before the gas chambers.â He laughed, as he tried to catch his breath.
âWhat year is this?â
âToday is November 13th, 1941. Best make it the best day of the rest of your life, because it may be the last day of the rest of your life.â He laughed as he looked at Daniel.
Daniel looked down at the ground. He remembered the place from his review of the Black Hat Man. The man had not lied to him. Death came quickly in the camp.
